The AIs won't take your jobs; other people will.

The AIs won't take your jobs; other people who use them will. Just like a doctor who knows how to use a computer will get picked over one who doesn't, the same goes for every sector, every field, every workplace. One's ability to use AIs will be an added advantage because these are powerful tools. But let's not forget that they're just that—tools. Not conscious beings that plot and plan and scheme to take over your job, lol. No, they are just tools. And just like any tool, having it in your back pocket and learning to use it gives you an advantage and ensures your genes survive. Picture when humans first discovered tools to cut things. Imagine the power and advantage that gave the people who used them versus those who didn't; for starters, they could cut up their meat now. Fast forward to the guys who discovered metallic tools, learned, and started using them; surely, it gave them an edge. From that came arrows and such that gave those who knew how to use power t...

AI as "Alternative Intelligence"

Image
"Alternative Intelligence" - June 4th 2023 We are on the cusp of outsourcing intelligence, yet everyone is focused on the wrong aspects of this seismic change. Plus Why are psychologists, Human behavioral scientists, and the like, not deeply engaged in these discussions? Anyway. Like most, or non of you, I have been following developments in artificial intelligence with great intent,  cough , I mean interest for some time. As someone fascinated by human psychology, behavior, intelligence, and the workings of the mind, I have been intrigued by the rise of these, because they might not be human-like intelligence, but at the end of the day,  they're some kind of "intelligence".    But too much of the discussion has centered on the artificial component of AI.  Instead, we should rebrand the AI  term as “Alternative intelligence” to shift the conversation toward how we can harness its power rather than stoke fears about it. Words matter, names matter; how ...

AI as an "IntelliTool" Rather than Truly Intelligent

"Artificial  Intelligence  IntelliTools: AI as an "IntelliTool" Rather than Truly Intelligent" - Part 1 Introduction: Welcome to my blog, where we dive into the world of artificial intelligence and what it means for  Intelligence as a  broader concept . In this post, I'll share my personal observations and takeaways from the OpenAI Dev Day, shedding light on the advancements made in the field. While AI is often touted as highly intelligent, I believe it falls short of our human-level understanding. Let's delve deeper into the topic. The Power of Custom Bots and Prompts: One of the highlights of the OpenAI Dev Day was the introduction of GPTs (Generative Pre-trained Transformers). Essentially, they are customizable bots that respond to specific scenaries. However, this concept is not entirely new. Platforms like Poe, by the creators of Quora, have offered similar functionalities since their inception. In fact, I played around with it and created  my own bo...
